Community Cohesion

The School

The School is situated in Old Leake, a thriving village serving the rural community to the north of Boston.

Our attractive grounds lie next to the church and the well-kept buildings house modern teaching areas for all subjects. The development of the site continues. Pupils come to Giles School from a wide area, many of them travelling by bus. Admission to the school is not dependent on ability and is for girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 18.

Giles is a Foundation School. In England and Wales, a foundation school is a type of school which enjoys a degree of independence from the local education authority.

Foundation schools were set up under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 to replace grant-maintained schools. Unlike grant-maintained schools they do not receive their funding directly from central government. However, they resemble grant-maintained schools in that their school governors control admissions to the school, employ the school's staff and own the school's estate. Giles is a Specialist Visual Arts College. At Giles we pride ourselves on the standards of teaching and learning
